New Transparent and Glow Resin Effects Now Available at Hobbyteka

We are expanding the range of visual effects available for selected Hobbyteka resin figures.

In addition to our standard opaque resin printing, we can now produce certain parts using transparent resin, as well as introduce fluorescent and glow-in-the-dark effects where the design allows it.

These options are intended for specific elements of a figure rather than automatically printing the entire model in transparent material.

Transparent Resin for Selected Parts

Transparent resin can be especially effective for elements that are meant to represent light, energy or translucent materials.

Depending on the model, suitable parts can include:

  • magic effects

  • energy blasts

  • crystals

  • fire and ice effects

  • water

  • transparent wings

  • weapon effects

  • sci-fi energy elements

  • decorative base details

Only the parts that benefit visually from transparency need to be printed this way. The main body of the figure can remain in our regular resin.

This makes it possible to combine different materials within the same statue without sacrificing the solid appearance of armor, clothing, skin or other opaque surfaces.

Fluorescent Effects

For certain transparent parts, fluorescent pigments can also be introduced.

Fluorescent materials react strongly under ultraviolet light and can create a much brighter appearance than ordinary transparent resin.

This works particularly well for effects such as:

  • magical energy

  • toxic or radioactive effects

  • sci-fi weapons

  • glowing liquids

  • fantasy crystals

  • supernatural elements

Under normal lighting, the effect remains part of the color and transparency of the piece, while UV lighting can make it considerably more intense.

Glow-in-the-Dark Effects

We can also produce selected transparent elements with phosphorescent material.

Unlike fluorescent effects, phosphorescent pigments can absorb light and then emit a visible glow for a period of time after the light source is removed.

The glow is intended as an additional visual effect rather than a replacement for LED lighting.

Its intensity and duration depend on factors such as the pigment, thickness of the part and how strongly the material has been charged with light beforehand.

For the right design, however, even a subtle glow can add another dimension to a display piece.

Combining Printing and Painting

Transparent resin does not mean that a part must remain completely clear.

Depending on the desired result, transparent components can also be painted with translucent colors while preserving part of their ability to transmit light.

This allows effects to be built gradually instead of relying on a single solid color.

For example, a transparent energy effect may combine:

  • a clear or tinted resin base

  • transparent paint

  • stronger color near the center

  • lighter edges

  • fluorescent pigment

  • selective opaque details

The final approach depends heavily on the sculpt and the effect the figure is supposed to represent.

Not Every Part Should Be Transparent

Transparent material works best when it supports the design.

Printing an entire figure in clear resin simply because the material is available usually does not improve the final result.

Skin, fabric, armor and most structural elements generally look better in opaque resin.

For this reason, we evaluate transparent and glow options on a part-by-part basis.

If a figure includes suitable effects, only those elements can be produced using the special material while the rest of the model is printed normally.

Available for Selected Hobbyteka Projects

Transparent, fluorescent and glow-in-the-dark resin effects are now available as optional features for suitable Hobbyteka figures and custom projects.

Because every model is different, the possibilities depend on the way the figure is separated into parts and on the geometry of the effect itself.

Some models already contain ideal standalone transparent components, while others may require additional preparation before a special resin can be used.

We will continue experimenting with different materials and techniques to expand the effects available for our resin figures.

For collectors looking for something beyond a standard opaque print, these new options open up some very interesting possibilities.
